In the Footsteps of St John

Following in the footsteps of St John, this journey explores two of the places most closely associated with the apostle and the early Christian world: Ephesus and Patmos. In Ephesus, one of the great cities of the Roman Empire, the journey brings together the extraordinary archaeological site with places linked by Christian tradition to John, including the Basilica of St John at Selçuk and the wider landscape of early Christianity in western Anatolia. Across the Aegean, the island of Patmos provides a very different setting: according to tradition, it was here that John received the visions recorded in the Book of Revelation. Together, Ephesus and Patmos offer a journey through archaeology, faith and history, illuminating the world in which some of Christianity’s most influential texts and traditions emerged.
