The Anatolian Steppes

A tailor-made journey across the Anatolian steppes reveals the immense plateau at the heart of Türkiye, a landscape shaped by some of Anatolia’s earliest and most influential civilisations. Depending on the focus of each programme, the route may include Hattuşa, capital of the Hittite Empire, the rock sanctuary of Yazılıkaya, and Alacahöyük, with its important Hattian and Hittite remains. Further south, Kültepe-Kaniş opens a window onto the Assyrian trading colonies and the beginnings of written history in Anatolia, while Cappadocia adds another layer through its extraordinary volcanic landscape, rock-cut settlements and early Christian heritage. Other possibilities may include Gordion or Çatalhöyük, allowing each journey to trace different chapters in the long history of the Anatolian plateau.
